You will build a capability that turns real incidents and simulation scenarios into trustworthy engineering evidence for developers, release decisions, and launch decisions. In this role you'll be leading advanced technical work focused on engine, transmission and battery structures in Advanced Structural Engineering team. We're seeking an engineer with a deep understanding of cylinder head, head gasket, block, transmission housing and structures and/or battery & body structures fundamentals. This person will engage with counterparts from combustion, thermal, Lubrication, cell, electrical as well as interface to architects and systems engineers for rest of the propulsion, body structures and safety teams.

Responsibilities:

• For new concepts and ideas, establish fundamental learnings and develop designs through advanced technology work (ATW).
• Lead the initial creation and development of cylinder head, head gasket, engine block/transmission housing/Battery structural concepts through the Advanced Technical Work (ATW) Phase.

• Partner with the Virtual Design, Development, and Validation (VDDV) analysis organization on tools for early assessment of structure performance of engine, transmission and/or battery designs
• At the project end gate, support the assigned implementation teams as designs are sourced and launched into production.
• Continuously benchmark automotive and other industries to identify and implement innovative technologies for Future Vehicles.
• Work with industry and start-up companies to innovate battery module technology to meet roadmap expectations

The Team  

The Continuous Integration (CI) Platform team owns our CI infrastructure along with the tools that improve the CI customer experience.  We are part of the AI and Cloud Developer Productivity Organization and own the building blocks to produce high quality CI experiences and workflows. This includes services such as the Remote Build Execution (RBE) service which allows GM AI to reliably test at scale and the build artifact storage which is a FUSE based network file system used in conjunction with RBE. Our goal is to accelerate AV development by supporting developer workflows for building, testing, and releasing software.

As part of the CI Platform team, you will specialize in RBE (Remote Build Execution) and our in-house FUSE file system used for: CI, ML Training, Simulation, and Remote Build. You will support and extend this system by working with internal customers to help them integrate their tools that rely on source code to the in-house FUSE file system. This role's primary focus will be enabling source code editing in a developer environment from our FUSE file system.
