Sustainable Workplaces Facility Management Strategy Summer Intern  

Sustainable Workplaces is charging ahead with a new mission! We look to create sustainable solutions that improve the communities in which we live and work. As a member of our team you will support the workplace transformation within a wide range of GM facilities in North America. You will work with an industry leading team that designs, builds/constructs, and maintains facilities and building assets for vast operating functions. You will be assigned a project that will advance our facilities management results in a safe, compliant, cost efficient manner that utilizes advanced technology to support social & ecological sustainability. This experience will give you exposure to operation in manufacturing and non-manufacturing buildings. There’s never been a more exciting time to join the Sustainable Workplaces team! 


Additional Description

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas:  Facilities Management or Industrial Engineering  

  • Must be graduating between December 2023 and May 2026

  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week 

Desired Qualifcations: 

  • Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities and/or service organizations 

  • Can work independently and with a team 

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed 

  • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience  

  • Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment 

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed 

  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust 

  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking and problem-solving skills that is customer-centric 
     

The start date for these Internship roles are for May & June of 2023 Spring/Summer Internship   
 

This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategies:

  • Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to each student selected for the 202 Student Program
