Sustainable Workplaces Industrial Engineering Summer Intern 

Sustainable Workplaces is charging ahead with a new mission! As part of our exciting program, you’ll gain first-hand experience working closely with leadership to support the validation of a new IE tool that supports the life-cycle of facility services towards a sustainable future. You will Interact with operations engineers and facility managers, while you drive the validation of this new IE estimating tool with certain algorithms for Facility Services in the areas of Maintenance and Housekeeping. The tool will be used to improve the resiliency of Facility Service Agreements. This experience will give you exposure to manufacturing and non-manufacturing buildings. Additional Description

Qualifications:   

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Industrial Engineering  

  • Must be graduating between December 2023 and May 2026

  • Ability work fulltime, 40 hours per week

  • Proven leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities and/or service organizations  

  • Able to work independently and with a team 

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed  

  • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience  

  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment  

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed 

  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust 

  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking and problem-solving skills that is customer-centric  

The start date for these Internship roles are for May & June of 2023 Spring/Summer Internship   
 

This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategies:

  • Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to each student selected for the 2023 Student Program
