About the General Motors Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) Team:

General Motors Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) has a central initiative to build and manage data as a corporate asset to strengthen its position as a global automotive leader that is transforming to a data driven digital enterprise. The CDAO team is one of the cornerstones to achieve this objective. As a member of the Analytic Capability Development (ACD) team, you will play a meaningful role in helping GM maximize analytic capabilities across the enterprise.

About the role:

The ACD leader will be part a team tasked with providing analytic enablement best practices and talent rotation opportunities to over 1,200 professionals across 25 teams that represent the GM analytics community. The ACD team also handles talent strategy, including recruitment, education, and talent development, as well as an overall internal/external PR plan to drive awareness of CDAO job opportunities. The ACD team is also responsible for enabling enterprise-wide data literacy efforts and this position will also have substantial responsibility for helping to execute the plan.

The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to multi-task and apply logic and independent thought in their decision making.  A high degree of accuracy, professionalism, and cooperation with others is also expected.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Indirectly manage a group of 10+ rotational program participants, providing career guidance, mentoring, and support
  • A passion for identifying and solving problems
  • Foster collaboration and shared influence with analytics leaders throughout GM
  • Compile and disseminate resources and advice to guide analytics teams in their efforts
  • Oversee regularly scheduled data and analytics related events including hackathons/datathons, the GM Analytics Network, Analytics Leadership meetings, Quarterly Forums, etc.
  • Assist in developing an advanced data-driven analytics culture
  • Execute standards, best practices, and strategic plans for growth of analytics skills and data literacy across the organization
  • Work with universities, key consortia, and external networking groups to seek out advancements in techniques and technology for the group
  • Assess regional/global analytic readiness and gather business requirements to support business outcomes measurement
  • Identify and cultivate analytic skills and talent resources
  • Develop easily accessible training assets to close performance gaps
  • Execute program with HR to ensure career paths for analytics professionals are well-documented and shared across the organization
  • Develop communications and graphical assets to support the mission and vision
  • Share knowledge across business units and analytics teams
  • Collaborate with vendors/contractors, as needed, to respond to short-term needs/engagements

Required Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of experience in data or analytics related role
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to describe the purpose, and elements, of an enterprise-wide data literacy program
  • Understanding of statistics, analytical techniques, and how data is used in large organizations
  • Adept at troubleshooting capability gaps and creating solutions to address those gaps
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, applying instructional design best practices to develop training to close performance gaps
  • Advanced ability with Microsoft products (Office, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with Power BI
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience developing and maintaining cross-functional relationships with related business teams, IT, and other groups
  • Assist in executing the strategic plan that enables growth and self-service
  • Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Persuasive, encouraging, motivating, and diplomatic
  • Able to manage multiple competing priorities


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Decision Science, Instructional Design, Human Performance Technology, or related field
  • Advanced degree preferred
