Android QA Engineer- SDV

Hybrid : This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week

The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for advanced technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees. The SDV Infotainment platform certification Engineer will be responsible to ensure the infotainment platform adheres to Android Compatibility definition document (CDD, GAS) requirements.  The Engineer shall review and be well versed with CDD and GAS requirements across applicable Android releases, execute CTS test suites, analyze test results, perform software modifications to ensure test failures are resolved, coordinate and follow-up with various software components on test failures and resolutions, generate reports of test execution. The Engineer shall also develop automation suites and tests for certification workflow. The Engineer shall work with: other certification engineers, development, integration, verification , validation and program teams during product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Review Android compatibility requirements (CDD, GAS) to ensure applicable requirements are compliant on Infotainment software programs.

  • Execute Android compatibility test suites (e.g. CTS), provide defect triage and resolution support on failures, provide reports on test execution.

  • Drive resolution of xTS test execution failures across different Android components. Ability to understand / modify android components to provide quick resolution on failures.

  • Develop automation framework/tools for certification (eg. CDD, CTS) workflow.

  • Setup and configuration of Dev / Test environments (in-vehicle, Bench, Simulation, Development hardware) in a fast-paced and multi-component dependent automotive embedded environment

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of platform certification process.


Additional Description

Required Skills: 

  • 2+ years in Software validation and Test development in related domains

  • Bachelors degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering

  • Developing and Debugging complex existing code base in ANY of the following C, C++, Java, Kotlin and scripting languages such as shell and Python on Linux/QNX/Android based systems

  • Prior experience with test automation framework, tool development and scripting.

  • Scrum/Agile software development process and SCM tools like Git, Gerrit.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience with automotive or consumer electronic devices , vehicle infotainment systems.

  • Experience in Android CDD and Android xTS (CTS, ATS, STS, VTS, CTS-on-GSI) requirements and test framework/ execution.

  • Knowledge of Vehicle communication network protocols like CAN, Vehicle ethernet and test tools like VehicleSpy, CANoe

  • Prior Experience with Android ecosystem test tools and test framework.
