Associate Business Strategy Manager, Global Connectivity

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite monthly.

The Associate Business Strategy Manager is responsible for developing new strategies to determine how the OnStar Safety and Connectivity LOB should expand its connected footprint to achieve its business growth.  This role will build the future vision and roadmap for global connectivity across all GM sales markets and support the development of the LOB’s objectives and key results (OKRs). This role collaborates with GM’s regional teams to devise the strategy and plan to expand connectivity, establishing a connected foundation for all Lines of Business in the Digital Business Team, identifying new and viable business models to profitably grow GM’s connectivity reach.  The role is responsible to develop the plan to ensure adoption of new connectivity technology (eg. 5G) is timely and robust to mitigate any risk against our subscription business.  The Associate Business Strategy Manager will align withcross functional teams, internal stakeholders and external partners to develop and execute these business growth opportunities. The execution spans all aspects of business development from product strategy to regional and global expansion. 

This role also collaborates with global and regional Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance teams, and other stakeholders to define business value and approach to operations to ensure long term sustainability for the regional businesses.  Additionally, s/he will support the definition of pricing, positioning, and packaging for launch. Lastly, the candidate will provide input on sales performance and engagement back into the product development process (i.e. Monthly Operations Review, business health, trends & opportunities).

The candidate must be able to communicate with all areas and levels within the organization. They will serve as the voice of the customer, brand/business, and competitor into the product development process. They must understand the role of the product in terms of profitability, share, and achieving any and all of GM’s overarching goals and use this as input into the product development process.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and size new investment opportunities (TAM/SAM/SOM)

  • Partner cross-functionally, globally and with regional teams to develop new expansion strategies and global roadmaps

  • Partner with product managers on business value of new products and features to guide investment prioritization and timing

  • Execute market research projects to acquire additional customer insight to inform business decisions

  • Support cross-functional teams to develop pricing and packaging strategies for the region

  • Support development of the go-to-market strategy for new regional launches in partnership with Sales and Marketing teams

  • Work with marketing and advertising teams to support new regional launches

  • Monitor project progress and consolidate status reports

  • Track product key performance indicators (OKRs and KPIs) and identify strategies to improve and operationalize the business

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, engineering/computer science, or equivalent professional experience

  • 3 years of experience in product marketing, product management, business strategy or strategy consulting in automotive or tech industry

  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to effectively communicate and present to peers and senior management

  • Ability to develop sound business & product strategic recommendations based on available data and critical thinking

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s degree

  • Good business acumen with the ability to drive data insights into product and marketing strategies

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects

  • Ability to build relationships across the organization

  • Growth mindset, with a thirst for customer insights, trends & industry data

  • Ability to work through ambiguity, organizational and culture change

  • “Student of the industry”; high personal passion for new / emerging technologies and the desire to expand technical knowledge; innately curious and always asking “why?”

  • Experience in design thinking principles and agile methodologies, SAFe experience preferred

Compensation:  The median level of salary compensation for this role is $ 113,756.32 USD Annual
