Associate IT Controls Assessor - Mainframe

Description

This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week. Relocation may be provided. 

General Motors Information Technology is seeking an experienced IT Controls Assessor as a key member of our Privacy, Governance & Risk team. The Associate IT Assessor works closely with GM IT Control Owners and external auditors and is responsible for execution of GM IT SOX Assessments, as well as supporting a variety of Control Self Assessment activities for GM IT.  This position has a strong mainframe technologies focus.

Candidates would have a strong background in IT Audit, with experience auditing Identity & Access Management (IAM), Backup and Recovery (BUR), Change Management, Job Monitoring, and Security Configuration Controls for mainframe environments. Candidate should also have a good working knowledge of mainframe Z/OS, RACF, and associated tools for obtaining and validating compliance to the aforementioned IT Controls.  Strong data manipulation skills using MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Office / mainframe scripting tools is preferred.

The IT Controls Assurance Associate Assessor is responsible for conducting and leading, assessments of IT Controls across varying platforms and IT technology components (e.g. applications, infrastructure, network, middleware, database, etc.).  Assessment activities are conducted primarily to ensure compliance with various legal and regulatory requirements, as well as, adherence to various Corporate Policies, Industry Standards / Maturity Models, or other requirements set forth by IT management.  This role also involves executing projects as assigned, and will involve collaborating with other IT Compliance Associates and Analysts.  All work is performed in a corporate environment, which is global in nature, and involves executing standard auditing methodologies, processes, and tools in the areas of audit planning, field work, data analysis, reporting, work paper documentation, and quality assurance (QA).

  • Develop a high-level understanding of the control environment (e.g. function and design)
  • Establish the assessment objectives and finalize scope of control testing
  • Execute field work and collect / analyze evidence.
  • Conclude on the adequacy of the control design and operating effectiveness
  • Document findings and conclusions
  • Report the status and results of the assessment

Minimal Qualifications:

3+ years in IT Audit

Experience auditing Identity & Access Management (IAM), Backup and Recovery (BUR), Change Management, Job Monitoring, and Security Configuration Controls for mainframe environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of mainframe Z/OS, RACF, and associated tools for obtaining and validating compliance to the aforementioned IT Controls.

Experience in data manipulation skills using MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Office / mainframe tool scripting tools is preferred.
