The Role:

As an Embedded Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and validation of electrical components and modules for the BrightDrop EP1.  This includes PCBA circuit simulation, schematics, layout, design, system analysis, hands on development, and testing for our internally design electronics.  You will be working closely with the Product Engineering team and supporting the identification and selection of capable supplier while leading activities from prototype to production scale. 


Additional Description

Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of custom electronics for the BrightDrop EP1 from concept to scaled production. 

  • Designing schematic to meet global best practices and robustness, including EMC, ESD, and environmental conditions.

  • PCBA layout and routing 2-4 layer boards.

  • Detailed BOM tracking.

  • Rendering 3D CAD models of PCB for mechanical integration.

  • Create complete wiring diagrams.

  • Hands-on electronics prototyping, including soldering SMT components and custom wiring.

  • Designing and building test benches.

  • Selecting and supporting the sourcing of components in prototype and production phases.

  • Designing EOL flashing/testing apparatuses for module assembler.

  • Continuous integration, including automated test cases, HIL and SIL testing.

  • Designing and executing validation plans.

  • Leading hardware DFMEA and peer reviews.

  • Work closely with software engineers on integration of hardware and software.

  • Providing technical input on a variety creative and ambiguous projects.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering field (Masters preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience in digital and analog electronic circuits and modules

  • Experience in design of modules and controls for electric motors and robotics

  • Experience with Electronic certifications, including UL

  • High-speed communication experience, including CAN and CANopen

  • Fundamental software controls experience

  • Firmware experience highly desired. 

  • Positive attitude, integrity, and confidentiality.

  • High level of independent judgment and decision making.

  • Ability to work comfortably and effectively with a cross functional team.

  • Action-oriented and drives for results.   

  • High level analytical ability.
