Business Integration Specialist


Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-4 times per year at the GM Global Tech Center - Cadillac Tower.

The Business Integration Specialist reports to the Manager Dealer Data & Integration.  This position leads requirements definition and data integrations with dealer third-party service providers. The individual in this role will be responsible for a centralized function for acquisition of dealer data and complete creation/management of integration/API Inventory Database.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manages new dealer data integrations with dealer third-party service providers, a centralized function for the enterprise
  • Partner with IT for development of STAR-Compliant API technical specifications
  • Liaison with IT for the modernization of integrations with dealer third party service providers
  • Eliminate the redundant acquisition of dealer data from the same dealer third-party service providers
  • Define integration “templates” and work with business units to assist with specification development and detailed data requirements
  • Work with Dealer Data Management and Governance team to ensure dealer data acquisition authorization
  • Schedule and run all meetings with service providers and internal technical and business personnel
  • Work with IT to facilitate system testing and coordinate corresponding UAT with business units to ensure business requirements are met
  • Manage the product roadmap for all inbound and outbound data integrations with dealer service providers
  • Business owner for all data integration specifications with dealer third-party service providers across the enterprise
  • Focal point for all business units requesting new/changed integrations with dealer third-party service provider
  • Primary point of contact for dealer service inquiries/communication
  • Catalogue and manage all integration projects with dealer third-party service providers; active and future
  • Engage leadership for prioritization of integration projects, resolve conflicts
  • Develop reporting structure to systematically review current integration projects to ensure alignment with GM priorities
  • Inform leadership when dealer third-party service providers have internal priorities in conflict with GM priorities
  • Communicate priorities to GM stakeholders
  • Engage dealer third-party service providers when project deliverables and/or timing do not meet contractual obligations; resolve to the satisfaction of the business requestor
  • Evaluate candidate dealer third-party service providers and their tools
  • Conduct kickoff meetings, orientation, training, and support for new dealer service providers
  • Engage the Contracting team for onboarding of candidate dealer third-party service providers
  • Partner with the Contracting team for submission of Change Requests to dealer third-party service providers; Change Request to include new or updated integration specifications and a project plan which includes a comprehensive test plan and production release timing
  • Partner with the IT Vendor Onboarding team to manage third-party service provider onboarding


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the automotive industry focusing on data integration (supporting, integrating, implementing, etc.)
  • Exceptional project management skills and demonstrated experience required
  • OEM experience and understanding of automotive retail and dealership is required
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Project) is required
  • Solid quantitative and analytical skills with ability to comprehend technical concepts
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and organization and project management skills 
  • Strong ability to comprehend technical concepts
  • Knowledge of dealership operating processes and practices; Dealer and/or Field experience is a plus
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and uncertainty in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment
  • Experience with vendor management
  • Familiarity with General Motors products, brands, divisions, and dealer network
