Business Manager - Stamping

Description

Pontiac Metal Center is a stand-alone stamping plant responsible for regional stamping needs.  Primary customers include Factory Zero (home of the GMC Hummer truck & SUV, Cruise Origin autonomous vehicle) as well as Orion Assembly – Current home of the Bolt EV & EUV and future home of the Silverado & Sierra electric trucks.

The Stamping Business Manager is not a direct people leader role, but is integral in the leading, coaching, and driving the culture of the salary and hourly workforce. You will be responsible for implementation and driving accountability of the business processes that are vital to our success.


You will support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas while helping to meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with cross functional groups to achieve targets

  • Nearly constant contact with others outside the work group

  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, UAW and GM

  • Maintain departmental manpower records and support the floor in governing skilled and other-than-skilled resources effectively, and within budget allowance

  • Administers divisional and corporate policies

  • Understand and consistently administer the terms of local and national labor agreements

  • Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment

  • Fulfills Area Manager or Shift Leader responsibilities as required

  • Act as site lead for Global Manufacturing System (GMS) to improve plant competitiveness

  • Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities

  • Work on special assignments that support the success of the plant


Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 1-3 years Stamping Experience

  • 5+ years of Manufacturing Experience

  • Proven History of Delivery results in manufacturing operations

  • Demonstrated Leadership experience with both salary and hourly employees

  • High Level of Problem-Solving Skills

  • Comfortable in a Multi-Tasking environment

  • Ability to work OT as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering Degree

  • Master’s degree

  • 5 Years Stamping Experience

  • 10+ Years of Manufacturing Experience

  • Multi-Discipline Experiences (Maintenance, T&D, Production, Engineering or Quality)

  • Multi-Plant Experience
