Creative Designer - Pre AFI Studio

Are you a highly creative design individual who is interested in being part of one of the most exciting design studios in the world? Based in Warren, Michigan, where the fusion of Art, Design and Technology come together, General Motors North America has exciting opportunities for designers interested in stretching the boundaries of automotive design.

GM Creative Design is looking for experienced interior and exterior Creative Designers with excellent analytical problem solving skills for our Pre-AFI (Architecture Framing Initiation) studio. As a Creative Designer at GM, you will be part of a larger, connected, global design team working on forward-thinking, extraordinary elements in production design. We need someone who thrives in a team environment and displays a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines. We need someone with a considerable amount of perception, design taste, judgment, and creativity as well as a high level of skill, accuracy, and coordination.

With the paradigm shift to electric and autonomous vehicles, there is an increasing focus on how the automotive landscape will adapt to these new technologies and how the user will interact with the vehicle, both on an emotional and functional level.

In this role, you will be responsible to identify new technologies and innovations for application to passenger vehicles. This involves identifying emerging customer needs, understanding the impact to vehicle design, and designing solutions which will address those needs in a fresh and aesthetically attractive manner. You will also be responsible for working with multiple disciplines within General Motors, to research, create, and validate the various solution you identify for any given need.

This role also involves visualizing creative solutions via 2D sketching, 3D modelling, computer animation, and by leading the development of proof-of-concept mockups to socialize the benefit of each innovation. At times, you will be required to incorporate these innovations into larger projects to show the overall impact and bandwidth of your creative innovative contribution to the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Applicants should have the skill to embrace the unknown in a wide breadth of technical areas, willingness to take risks, and a passion for driving clarity to ambiguous and complex challenges.

General Motors' Creative Design is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future opportunities as Creative Designers in interiors and exteriors in our Pre-AFI (Architecture Framing Initiation) space. In anticipation of these opportunities becoming available, if you are interested in learning more about GM, completing this profile will allow us to stay connected.
