Design Release Engineer - AV Camera

Description

In this role, you will be responsible for leading product development and integration activities to production release Camera sensors across ADAS and AV applications.  Effectively achieve program milestones by thorough and rigorous program management. You will coach and lead suppliers to timely execution of program deliverables with perfection.
These projects will directly enable General Motors to “innovate on the critical path” and develop unique Camera solutions for vehicle applications across the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging and production releasing of Camera components using all the standard GM tools (ECM/PRTS/Auros/etc…)
  • Chair cross-functional Product Development Team meetings (PDTs).
  • Create and approve Component Technical Specifications (CTS) & Statement of Work (eSOR/SOW/SODW) and support sourcing activities and technical reviews
  • Exercise technical direction over supplier/supplier engineers and engineering support personnel
  • Lead and direct supplier resident engineers in release activities
  • Work with the TS (Technical Specialist) to fine tune and implement system requirements, participate in selection of the right suppliers, and optimize integration into vehicles
  • Lead overall communication, coordination and consultation with engineering departments and customers
  • Resolve issues as they arrive with a sense of urgency
  • Participate in compartment integration team discussions and finding balanced design solutions that meet performance requirements 
  • Defend Camera System Performance Requirements and Camera System Strategy at Program Specific meetings such as CIT’s, POPS, VAPIR, & TAPIR
  • Develop software and hardware development plans
  • Coordinate and Implement engineering changes
  • Create and balance requirements across systems
  • Lead and execute DFSS studies and implement results
  • Address and resolve all safety and compliance issues based on CAE analysis and physical evaluations
  • Represent GM in vendor and/or customer contacts
  • Manage multiple vehicle programs/suppliers simultaneously
  • Organize peer reviews and participate in other peer reviews
  • Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products.
  • Travel as needed

Additional Description

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree required in an engineering or computer-related field, Masters degree preferred
  • 2+ Design Release Experience
  • Studio packaging experience preferred
