Facility Mechanical Systems:
Develop project criteria / scope and direct facility activities on engineering, construction, and maintenance projects. This includes but not limited to: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, chilled water, compressed air, natural gas, tank farms, and energy conservation initiatives.
Seek new technology applications and creative methods for accomplishing objectives. Develop, document, and continuously improve facility mechanical systems.
Direct and monitor engineering firms for compliance with project scope of requirements.
Provide technical consultation, including analyzing facility mechanical system problems in the field, and recommended solutions.
Provide mechanical cost estimating for developed scope of requirements for assigned projects. Develop and maintain standards guidelines common systems and best practices.
Provide code and regulatory analysis and interpretation for the plant.
Ensure that the construction and maintenance work is in compliance with mechanical plans and specifications.
Responsibilities in Facility Maintenance:
Technical resource to facility maintenance for all projects.
Technical subject matter expert on facility technologies and processes.
Monitor physical condition of facilities: buildings, roads, grounds, architectural structure.
Maintain facility with service provider labor when necessary.
Develop forecasts budgets and programs for preserving assets.
Estimate, plan, and schedule on project delivery.
Determine most cost effective approach for projects.
Manage projects through completion and close out.
Develop implement and operate programs and projects including environmental utilities and decommissioning.
Manage and maintain construction drawings, layouts, and architectural drawings.
Review and determine applicable standards and methods for maintainability, serviceability, cleanability, and layout.
Project status updates: planning, scheduling, and coordinating with other departments and capital projects.
Technical requirements: compliance and code issues; physical condition and technical standards.
Administer PDPM program.
Technical interface and feedback with other GM plants.
Measurements in reporting:
Conduct repair replacement analysis to align asset preservation with corporate and plant strategic goals and objectives.
Develop and implement common metrics performed by service providers.
Appropriation request and project review tracking and reporting.
Forecast budget expenditures in programs.
Drive plant asset disposal process.
Champion multiple workplace safety performance standards Including safety contract management.
Basic Qualifications and skill set required:
BS in mechanical engineering preferred
Minimum five years in facility mechanical systems engineering design experience, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, chilled water, compressed air, natural gas, and mechanical piping systems.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of mechanical systems building design codes and specifications.
High level of analytical ability were problems are unusual and difficult.
Experience with design and engineering analysis of complex mechanical systems and issues.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
Demonstrated ability to manage numerous issues and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Team leader ship and construction project management experience.
Knowledge and understanding of automotive manufacturing facilities.
Ability to work cross functionally.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office products such as word excel and PowerPoint.
Must be familiar with preparing status reports, reading specifications and drawings, verifying contractor work, and timeline management.
