GM Fuel Cell Stack Interface and Integration Engineer


This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.


The Fuel Cell Stack Interface and Integration Engineer serves as the Gen 3 program’s link between customers and the technical teams that develop stack HW content. The Fuel Cell Stack Interface and Integration Engineer works collaboratively with Fuel Cell System Engineering, Mechanical Packaging and Design Integration teams to define the stack interface needs and work with stakeholders to identify interface changes based on integration need.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop stack electrical and mechanical interface requirements and documentation that support diverse platform and propulsion system integration

  • Organize system interface meetings as needed to build consensus or negotiate interface changes

  • Track application capability to meet stack interface needs and maintain compliance assessments

  • Review requirements with stakeholders and negotiate conflicts to reach a mutually beneficial outcome.

  • Support Stack Subsystem Technical Specifications (SSTS) development, specifically the definition of interface related artifacts.

  • Use typical GM tools and activities (FTA, FMEA and SEFA) to identify and reduce the probability of uncertain events or maximize the potential of opportunities provided by them.

  • Work with PDT’s, TRB’s and development engineers to define experiments and analyze data in the pursuit of objective requirement definition and assessment.

Position Qualifications:

Required :

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • 1+ years of relevant high voltage engineering experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate differences of opinions and facilitate discussion as needed with collaborative multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Strong oral, graphical and written communication skills to effectively communicate issues, status and recommendations.

  • Must function well in a fast-paced, diverse engineering environment and be flexible and adaptive to unexpected technical issues and concerns.

Preferred :

  • Graduate degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience.

  • Familiar with IBM DOORs Next Generation (Global Configuration Management, Requirements Management), and IBM Rational Team Concert

  • Knowledge of fuel cell operational fundamentals

  • DFSS Certification

  • Knowledge of UML or SysML

  • Comfortable in dealing with undefined / under-defined problems.

  • Adaptable in dealing with evolving goals and targets.
