We are seeking a new generation of visionaries to help launch bold Design initiatives, and shape new directions for General Motors. As an intern through our EXCEL (Exploring Careers through Experiential Learning) Program you will gain hands-on career specific experiences to maximize your real world potential while learning from industry leaders and experts in Creative Design.

General Purpose of Position:  

Work with Product Program teams (Creative Design, Sculpting) to identify how Immersive Technology can enhance how we design vehicles.  Understand what features are needed and develop a custom Game Engine based solution.  You will learn how Immersive Technology can be applied in large enterprise environments, how vehicles are developed, and how your skills can be applied outside of a typical entertainment/video game career path. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:   

Develop Game Engine based immersive experiences. 

Translate user requirements into features. 

Conduct user acceptance testing, roll feedback into next development iteration. 

Present new ideas, methods, and solutions. 

Actively identify new areas for learning and take advantage of learning opportunities. 


Additional Description

Skills and Abilities:   

Creative proficiency with supporting portfolio. 
Good oral and written communications skills. 
Good Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. 

Epic Games Unreal Engine Editor development experience (Blueprints). 

CGI material shader scanning and development (Substance Designer). 

Virtual Reality hardware (HTC VIVE). 

Education and Training:   

Currently working towards a Bachelor or Advanced degree in the following: 

Game Design & Development 

This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategies:

  • Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to each student selected for the 2022 Student Program
