Infotainment and Connectivity - CTF Engineer


This is a Hybrid Position which does not require you to be on-site full-time. This role enables you to work at a GM facility as required and off-site as needed.

CTF Engineer is responsible for leading the reproduction and dispositions of CTF issues that are found in during the CTF exposure period.  Key responsibilities are listed below, but maybe expanded to support attainment of corporate goals:

  • Manage / maintain issue identification through GIMS and the CTF database

  • Reproduce issue and capture CAN, Ethernet, Radio, Telematics, LIN bus logs, Cluster Logs

  • Communicate issues to Domain Leads and respective EGMS.

  • Develop plans with Domain Leads to ensure that issues are being resolved and have correct ownership

  • Develop presentations and present Status on Issues at Team meetings and PDT / Core meetings

  • Support Trouble shooting of issues with Domain Lead

  • Be available to support on ride events

  • Maintain a Pareto of Issue Status to be presented in Core and Infotainment Update meetings

  • Provide first level of trouble shooting on issues that arise in CTF

  • Must have good knowledge of VSpy / NeoVi, CAN databases, GM Electrical architecture, Ethernet logging, Telematics ATT tool /QXDM  Must be able to do preliminary analysis of Logs

  • Perform CTF issue data and trend analysis

  • Establish close relationship the PDT which supports a collaborative approach to resolving issues.

  • Must be available outside of normal business hours to capture critical issues when they arise

  • Support certain additional QRD Engineering functions such bucketing Warranty / Compass / JDP Power Claims

  • Create and manage Top Issues Lists for CTF Focus Area (Issues to be based on CTF verbatim reviews)

  • Analyze and follow-up on captured test fleet diagnostic data and verbatim

  • Read-across issues to other vehicle lines and assembly plants

  • Track issue resolution to S/W and hardware break points

Additional Description


  • Consults with supervisor and other product engineers as required.

  • Performs complex diagnostics and problem solving.

  • Reviews and approves technical engine performance data.

  • Provides test direction to lab technicians, lead technicians, and supervisors.

  • Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers.

  • Maintains diagnostic service documents and “lessons learned” technical memory.

  • Stays abreast of new product and test technology.

Basic Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Background in Product Development: (Validation, Reliability Engineering, Design Release Engineering, etc.)

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high level of accountability and autonomy

  • Knowledge of Quality Chain Framework

  • Ability to influence without authority

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and meeting facilitation skills

  • Knowledge of Quality Operational Excellence tools – Red X, DFSS, OpEx etc

  • Understanding of product design and process interdependencies

  • Initiative to reach beyond current assignment and improve the output and/or help others

  • Strong Excel, Sharepoint, Power BI and data management skills

  • Strong Analytical Problem Solving Skills


  • Experience facilitation Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) or Design Review Based on Failure Modes

  • DFSS Black Belt Certification

  • ASQ Quality Certification

  • Assembly plant / supply base experience
