IT Business Analyst- Manufacturing


Hybrid:  This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite  1-3 times per week .

Job Summary:

The Low Volume Manufacturing and Supply Chain IT Business Analyst will support a suite of applications at General Motors that is extensive and encompasses, external supplier access and collaboration, critical business transactions in support of sourcing material along with manufacturing and quality capabilities.

The Intermediate Business Analyst is accountable for maintaining the relationship with the end user (i.e. Business Team/Customer) for small to medium scale projects. They are responsible for eliciting requirements/user stories and representing them to the Enterprise Solutions Delivery and Enterprise Sustain Services teams throughout the systems development cycle. Will lead requirements elicitation and documentation for a small to medium sized project and work as part of a business analysis team on larger projects under the supervision of more senior colleagues.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Working with the senior BA’s and segment lead to develop implement (business) requirements gathering and validation, functional design and documentation of solution components, configuration and validation (testing) of the built Solution.

  • Work as part of a global project team and assist the lead in optimally delivering solutions following General Motors proprietary IT Solution delivery methodology

  • Collaborate with other team members on the design, development, testing, and deployment of solutions.

  • Lead and support projects as appropriate to support the GMIT strategy applying the different SDLC methodologies available at GM (including Agile).

  • Ensure the solution has comprehensive testing approach and validation of end-to-end processes, guiding and working collaboratively with Quality Assurance teams

  • Support the introduction of new solutions to business customers as well as transitioning stable solutions to the sustain operations organization.

  • Develop full grasp of the functional aspects of the supported applications including standard processes, bolt-on and customized solutions (including interfaces) across the global purchasing eco system.

  • Provide Level-3 support, owning the troubleshooting of issues in production for the areas of functional expertise, working closely and coordinating investigation of problems with developers, Infrastructure and Operations teams.

  • Provide support to investigate irregularities such as data missing from reports or unexpected status.

  • Demonstrate dedication to continuous learning and personal development, including ongoing training and development in SLDC and the latest delivery techniques

Additional Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant business analysis experience with IT Project delivery. (5 years of experience is preferred)

  • Hands-on experience (confirmed participation) on analyzing and solutioning sophisticated business problems.

  • Experience of Supply-Chain and/or Manufacturing, preferably with some experience of the automotive industry

  • Business facing experience (preferably in the automotive industry) – participating in the requirement gathering workshops, solution design presentations, conducting user training

  • Experience of delivering solutions in a regulated environment with internal and external standards (SOX, Internal controls, various country related legal requirements),

  • Practical experience with SDLC delivery methodology for Waterfall or Agile

  • Structured and analytical mind

  • Ability to coordinate tasks and priorities across multiple projects

  • Proactively seeking opportunities related to global purchasing solution portfolio that might benefit your business partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of modern software technology, Java, .Net

  • Experience with b2b integrations such as edi

  • Certification on one project management/IT solution delivery methodology (AGILE, Scrum, ASAP, Prince 2).
