This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week. Relocation may be provided.

GM Global Manufacturing is a key element in the transformation toward Electric Vehicles in General Motors and works throughout the Vehicle and Propulsion Development Process culminating in the launch of exciting new products in our manufacturing plants.
The GM Manufacturing Information Technology (IT) team plays a vital role in creating and implementing IT solutions which enable the manufacturing of Vehicles and Propulsion Systems using the digital manufacturing process and system design integrating seamlessly with production critical Manufacturing Executions Systems.
GM Global Manufacturing enabled by GM Manufacturing IT is on the journey toward Manufacturing 5.0 with integrated manufacturing concepts leveraging the highest levels of automation and in-process quality assurance.
Manufacturing IT collaborates closely with our business partners to develop the information system strategies and systems to translate breakthrough technologies into vehicles and experiences that people love.
About the Role:
The GM Manufacturing IT team has collected billions of data points from manufacturing plant floor devices, systems, and applications, with more and more data being collected every day. This data is being used to support business decision-making and to help identify opportunities for throughput optimization, downtime prevention, cost avoidance and quality improvement.
As a Manufacturing Data Analyst, you will work cross-functionally to support turning data into information and information into actionable insights. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing the data needs of projects and ad-hoc requests, performing exploratory data analysis, identifying data patterns, assessing data quality, constructing data sets and metadata, and developing compelling data visualizations and insights.
This role requires a solid understanding of manufacturing operations, strong analytics and big data technical skills, the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, favoring fast iteration and test and learn, natural curiosity, and excellent listening and communication skills.
This role may require some limited global travel.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with cross-functional teams to develop actionable, high-impact data analytics solutions
Work with business domain, operations research, and IT professionals to identify detailed data needs and appropriate sources
Develop a deep understanding of data trends; identify outliers, exceptions, and data inconsistencies
Lead the generation of data dictionaries, data quality assurance reports, data validation decks and data summary reports
Identify logic for data integration, and partner with Data Engineering to develop robust and re-usable data assets
Develop actionable insights that are both engaging and understandable
Provide on-going data quality support
In addition to being insightful, solutions oriented, and you have at least 7 years of experience in most of the following:
Experience in analyzing source system data and data flows using SQL, data visualization and other techniques, working with structured and unstructured data
Experience creating data structures to support machine learning models, analytics systems design, and development
Experience with industry leading large-scale database platforms and speed layers (i.e. Hadoop, Kubernetes, Elastic Storage System, Greenplum, Dremio)
Experience with Hadoop frameworks such as Hive, Sqoop and Pig
Experience with analytic / reporting tools (i.e. R, Power BI, Cognos, Knime)
Experience with open source technologies, especially Spark, Java, and Python (others: Hadoop / MapReduce, ElasticSearch, Storm, Cassandra, etc)
Experience with data engineering, data architecture, and machine learning models a plus (e.g. ETL, data models/modeling, supervised vs. un-supervised learning, svm, tree-based methods, knn, hmm, crf, etc.)
Large scale data warehouse and data integration implementations
Highly collaborative work style with exceptional listening and communication skills, and the ability to work closely and iteratively with analytic modelers, business subject matter experts, and other IT teams
Ability to influence a multi-site, multi-functional team and model strong drive for results, tenacity, and positivity
