Mfg Area Manager


8th level lateral or 7th level promotional opportunity


·       Provides Bold, Innovative, and Look Ahead leadership of the Manufacturing team of one or more product lines at Grand Rapids by fostering an environment of Inclusion using a One Team approach to achieve all business goals & objectives

·       Holds self and all team members and support groups accountable for all business goals & objectives inclusive of: Safety, People, Quality, Cost, Responsiveness, and Environmental goals.

·       Leads and maintains salaried and hourly manpower as required

·       Creates and maintains departmental performance dashboards as required, including GMS Level 2 BPD board and others as necessary

·       Acts as prime remover of roadblocks for the product line

·       Acts as member of the site staff and business team

·       Acts as Voice of the Supplier to product lines’ customers

·       Analyzes current state of product line and sets Strategic direction accordingly to meet Departmental, Site, and Corporate objectives as assigned

Oversees Team performance and dynamically modifies departmental Tactical direction if not achieving short-term objectives

·       Demonstrated Expert-level understanding and use of GMS Principles

·       Responsible for leading all assigned product lines- accountable for all outcomes, including departmental safety and financial performance, responsiveness, and continuous improvements

·       Capably recognizes deficiencies and applies timely situational leadership skills when required

·       Develops and maintains Workday appraisals, career plans, and Succession & Progression plans for direct reports

·       Works with appropriate parties to resolve contractual issues as required

·       Acts as champion for one or more Workplace Safety Systems modules and/or Performance Standards

·       Acts as site representative to corporate committees, projects, programs as assigned

·       Acts as Cost Council champion for the department and/or cost accounts as assigned
