Job Description

OnStar Insurance is currently looking for an individual who is motivated by the idea that insurance pricing should be more reflective of what you drive and how you drive than who you are and where you live. The individual will blend insurance expertise and technical modeling abilities to develop innovative insurance pricing models supporting OnStar Insurance’s vision. This role will be an individual contributor on the agile team supporting pricing analytics for OnStar Insurance.

The top candidate will have a strong foundation in personal auto insurance, experience building technical insurance pricing models, and a mission to disrupt the current auto insurance market by developing more fair rates that contribute to a best-in-class customer experience at OnStar Insurance.

Prior personal lines insurance pricing experience is required. Support for candidates pursuing Casualty Actuarial Society credentials is provided.

This is a remote position. The selected candidate can reside and perform the work from anywhere within the United States. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of new and innovative pricing models and methods
  • Help ensure pricing models are developed within Standards of Practice and regulatory requirements
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop regulatory support documentation and communications
  • Effectively communicate key findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to an amazing work culture 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or other related discipline
  • 3 or more years of personal auto insurance price modeling experience
  • Working knowledge of insurance ratemaking methods and principles
  • Experience building technical insurance pricing models in Python and/or R; Additional experience with Willis Towers Watson’s Emblem and Radar preferred
  • Strong communication skills including explaining technical concepts to non-technical business associates 
  • Comfortable working remotely
