Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to be onsite potentially every other week occasionally more.

At this level you are expected to operate with a high level of independent discernment and are typically responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, counseling and advising management.

As a fully-qualified individual contributor who has thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function, you will provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems.

  • Resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts sophisticated research.

  • Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

  • Skilled and proficient with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Rely mostly on extensive personal experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • You will perform multiple tasks.

  • Lead and likely direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Additional Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and execution of future and legacy converters.

  • Ensure robust technical solutions are developed and released for each phase of the program.

  • Find opportunities for improved specifications and best practices.

  • Implement the BOM and Reuse Strategy.

  • Execute root cause and problem resolution of vehicle or component development or validation issues.

  • Work with component validation engineer to develop and approve component validation plan and review validation results.

  • Set priority and urgency for Engineering Change Requests, Problem Resolution, and Development / Validation Plans.

  • Champion DFSS, complex trade-off and root cause assessments.

  • Work with Supplier Program Manager in execution and leadership of Converter Product Development Team (PDT).

  • Meet program deliverables and imperatives.

  • Complete warranty reduction efforts on current product programs.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

  • 2+ years of work with automotive modules

  • Experience with Bills of Design, Statement of Requirements, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Design Reviews

  • High level of project management skills

  • Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics, electronics, physics and manufacturing methods

  • Interpersonal skills to work independently and optimally with domestic and international business partners

  • Ability to work non-standard hours to collaborate with an overseas suppliers

  • Analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Travel as required (domestic & international)

Preferred Skills and Experience Sections:

  • MS Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of work with automotive modules

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • DFSS Certification

  • Solid understanding of GM Engineering Work Orders and Change Management processes
