Product Manager, Safety & Security – OnStar Guardian


About the role:

We are looking for a Product Manager for OnStar Guardian, a safety service created by the General Motors Global Innovation team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the safety and security workstream on the Guardian team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, development, operations, and marketing to create, manage, and deliver on your feature backlog to help our users and their communities be safer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Become the expert in the different types of Guardian users and their needs
  • Manage the safety and security workstream throughout the entire product lifecycle - gathering user needs, authoring user stories, and managing the backlog priority
  • Incorporation of developing trends in the consumer electronics and the safety and security spaces, including mobile applications, IoT devices, AI, etc. to the product roadmap to meet the needs of our users
  • Translate global and regional trends and insights into meaningful product attributes

Additional Description

Required Experience :

  • 3+ years of experience in Product Management, User Experience, or Customer Experience
  • Strong focus on the user, with experience applying Human-Centered Design/Design Thinking principles to product development
  • Entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial spirit
  • Experience with software development, preferably within both Agile and Waterfall development processes
  • High ability to manage ambiguity
  • Business and Technical acumen
  • Global Awareness
  • Building relationships
  • Ability to influence

Degree Requirements :

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

Masters Degree in Business, Technology Commercialization, or entrepreneurship preferred
