This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance to the innovation center they are selected for. Relocation will be provided as needed

About the role:
OnStar Insurance was launched in 2020 and will be in all US states by the end of 2021. OnStar Insurance Services intends to leverage its unique understanding of the vehicles GM produces to offer a secure, fair, personalized and easy-to-use insurance experience for drivers. GM has the largest connected vehicle fleet worldwide. In the US alone, there are currently 9M+ connected GM vehicles on the road and that number is projected to triple in the next 10 years. More than that, the OnStar system currently has access to over 900 data points from the vehicle. This surge in information about vehicles and how they are driven will revolutionize auto insurance. This disruption is backed by the bold GM vision of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. We are serious about the safety and financial security of our customers.

There are two openings for this role – Product Owner for our Mobile Policy Management product team and our Price & Protect product team.
Defines Product Team Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
Prioritizes the features and product backlog
Decision-making authority at the team level
Authors the team backlog
Grooms the backlog (sprint-to-sprint; Program Increment (PI)-to-PI)
Defines iterations & stories
Contributes to vision, roadmap, ROI
Accepts iteration increments
A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or an equivalent experience/training
5+ years of demonstrated experience
Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Business Process fundamentals; including requirements elicitation, stakeholder collaboration, effective and timely communications, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated strength in critical skills such as collaboration, written and oral communications, and analytical capability
Planning, negotiation and facilitation skills
Has led day-to-day of cross-functional mobile team consisting of engineers and user experience designers
Followed agile principles in managing backlog and writing stories
For the Mobile Policy Management product team:
- Has led day-to-day of cross-functional mobile team consisting of engineers and user experience designers
- Has brought consumer-facing mobile app to market or worked on delivering features for mobile app in market
- React Native experience is preferred
For the Price & Protect product team:
- Has led day-to-day of cross-functional teams consisting of engineers and software developers
- Prior exposure to the following technical items. Emphasis on understanding and communicating concepts. Examples include:
- Big data technologies and solutions (e.g. Kafka, Spark, Airflow, Delta Lake, and Cassandra)
- Deployment tools (e.g. PCF, Kubernetes, AWS)
- API and microservice design
Experience in IT project management, requirements definition, process definition, testing, and IT strategy and roadmap development
Expertise in utilizing requirements tools
Familiarity with automotive dealership technology footprint
Software development experience/background
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Insurance industry experience
SAFe Agilist and/or advanced SAFe certifications
Relevant domain / business process knowledge (multi-industry preferred)
