Production Launch Lead EV/AV

Description

As a Launch Leader, you will have supervisory responsibility for a small/medium group of employees in the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. Supervise a small to medium group of hourly employees involved in multiple departments/processes.

As the launch leader, you will interact cross-functionally with program team, product engineering and manufacturing engineering to deliver validation builds. This role will begin with early builds and progress through the development of the product, into production. Strong candidates will have launch experience in a vehicle environment.

You will maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals, and leverage resources to solve quality issues. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, both union and management, and consistently administer the GM Subsystems Manufacturing, LLC Brownstown Plant Agreement between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. Lead will implement and follow systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues.

  • Manages the floor operation in one of the production areas.
  • Promotes, educates, communicates, and follows up on corporate or local safety initiatives.
  • Maintains safety culture through audits, makes safety observations and complete incident investigations.
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment.
  • Exhibits excellent communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Participates in the development of new employees; trains and evaluates hourly employees, and the development of highly effective teams.
  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across production area and serves as lead resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas.
  • Meets or exceeds quality requirements.
  • Trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized work.
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.
  • Execute Continuous Improvement Process workshops in the areas of Throughput, Quality & Cost
  • Manages budget and achievement of productivity improvements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industrial leadership experience 
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult   
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others 
  • High level of oral and written communication skills 
  • Working knowledge of Workplace Safety System (WSS)
  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) 
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)
