Project Manager - Manufacturing IT

Hybrid:  This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite  1-3 times per week .

Job Summary:

GPSC/Manufacturing IT Project and Program Management teams are responsible for the delivery of the output/product of the program, which will involve managing a portfolio of projects and programs. As a key member of this group you will be responsible for coordinating the teams who are working on various projects among other duties.

One of the most dynamic areas in manufacturing with warehouse management and automated material movement.  You will lead teams installing and upgrading a plant wide warehouse management solution as well as automated guided carts, vehicles and other applications involving material movement throughout the plant.

Qualifications:

  • Manages medium to large scale IT projects from beginning to end with the ability to apply intermediate project management knowledge to solve sophisticated business issues and significant cross-functional coordination.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all business results are identified and accounted for in the project plan with responsibility and due dates

  • Continuously supervise and report on project status

  • Own the identification, documentation, and traceability of business requirements

  • Investigate and detail sophisticated business processes

  • Prepare presentations for all levels of leadership

  • Coordinate the input and approval of various project design and decision documents

  • Provide mentorship and support during execution of organizational change activities

  • Developing tracking scorecards and metrics to illustrate status and ownership.

  • Developing turning point reviews for the key achievements and ensures the team is on track to deliver.

  • Supervise business resources and identify any shortages based on project plans

  • Align cross-functional business and technical teams to help ensure alignment of goals and to help resolve conflicting priorities.

  • Assist Workstream Leaders in leading multiple efforts simultaneously across a broad range of functions, business and organizational units

  • Supervise project progress and consolidate status reports

  • Gain an understanding of program workstreams/projects to be able to conduct formal risk management


Additional Description

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years validated experience in project management for an Automotive, Manufacturing or related industry.

  • Must know the SDLC ( Software Development Lifecycle)

  • Strong proficiency with MS Project and Office suite.

  • Experience with HP Program and Project Management (PPM) software

  • Experience with TFS or AzureDevOps Server 2019

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to efficiently communicate cross-functionally to all levels

  • Proven and shown in-depth knowledge of project management fields (e.g. PMBOK, Schedule, Scope, Quality, HR, Communications, etc.)

  • Experience in handling projects bring to bear different software development methodologies, specifically Agile

  • Strong skills in problem solving, predictive analysis, specifically on software development/deployment projects, resource/staffing management

  • Experience in measuring project success factors with respect to cost, schedule and quality, i.e. product requirements quality, test quality and code quality

  • Practical experience with requirements and test case development using sophisticated techniques for leading scope and quality assurance/control

  • Strong experience interacting with business customers and running expectations

  • Validated work experience working as a Project Manager with a successful project delivery record

  • Ability to work with business interface teams, business leads, development & QA teams, and interlock resource managers to estimate cost and negotiate requirements to minimize project impact

  • Bachelors' degree (technical subject area preferred) and/or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.

  • Certified Project Manager by PMI Institute, Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org, or Scaled Agile Scrum Master/Sophisticated Scrum Master or Release Train Engineer experience/certifications is preferred
