The General Motors Propulsion Systems Research Lab is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future Researcher opportunities. In anticipation of these opportunities becoming available, if you are interested in learning more about GM, completing this profile will allow us to stay connected.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week

About Propulsion Systems Research (PSR) Lab

We need motivated researchers to join us in our search for 'what's next' here at GM's Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. As a key member of GM's PSR lab, you will contribute to the research, innovation, and development of future various advanced propulsion technologies. In PSR, these include but are not limited to battery cells, systems & manufacturing, traction & energy management, and charging & clean energy solutions. In select cases, we will prototype in proof-of-concept hardware while crafting new solutions for tomorrow’s vehicles. You will also be contributing to the vision of advanced fundamental research collaborating with global research partners and universities. Who You Are

  • Develop and implement technical plans, including concept generation, development, and evaluation

  • Lead technical discussions and reviews as a technical specialist

  • Maintain groundbreaking knowledge in related areas of responsibility

  • Communicate ideas, plans and results effectively via presentations and written reports

  • Coordinate efforts between peers, management, operations groups, and outside organizations

  • Work as an independent yet integral member of a research team developing true innovation

  • Generate intellectual property, document results, and publish

  • Represent GM in external research forums, university research partnerships

Additional Description

What You Need

  • Advanced Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering (or related science or technology degree)

  • 0-4 years relevant industry and/or research experience

  • Advanced training in engineering/applied science (chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics)

  • Excellent sociability in working optimally and efficiently with all customers, up to but not limited to including executive management

  • Adaptive in working with multiple projects and in varying technical areas

What would be even Better

  • PhD in engineering/physics with experimentally based thesis

  • 1-3 years Postdoc or industry experience
