Quality Engineering Manager -Wentzville Assembly


Leads, guides, and manages a group of cross-functional Engineers and Quality Professionals within the Wentzville Vehicle Assembly Plant.  Provides leadership and technical direction within Quality Engineering team, to support efficient resolution of problems in support of the Quality organization within the Assembly Plant.

  • Lead team of Problem Solvers and Customer Quality Engineers in resolution of top external and internal quality problems.  Drive diamond 4-7 problem resolution in the Assembly Center.
  • Provide leadership and support to the CPIT remediation process
  • Lead the resolution of Supplier Quality and Ergonomic issues affecting the Assembly Plant.  Ensure consistent and fair usage of SPPS’s, Cost Recovery, CS1, and Supplier Performance Reviews in support of improving Supplier Performance.
  • Lead the CQE group to drive all Warranty, Compass and Emerging issue using PRE CPIT and CPIT.
  • Responsible for Managing Supplier Action Center activities for Assembly Plant, to protect Assembly Plant from emerging supplier quality issues
  • Support Quality processes for both Launch and Steady State Vehicle Programs
  • Establish and maintain Product Quality Standards (CVIS) for Assembly Plant
  • Develop and Train Engineers in an integrated organization, consisting of members from Manufacturing Quality, Supplier Quality and Product Development, GMS
  • Provide interface between Engineering and Assembly Centers
  • Facilitate Engineering Lessons Learned
  • Model and foster desired core values and behaviors

Basic Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of design, development and test engineering, manufacturing processes, assembly operations, and supplier quality processes
  • High level of analytical ability, leadership and communication skills
  • Create and maintain an environment that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required, with ability to handle complex scenarios, and prioritize multiple issues.
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners in engineering, manufacturing plants, and suppliers, to meet mutual goals
  • Requirement:  BS in Engineering, MS in Engineering or MBA preferred.  Some mobility required.

Basic Skills Preferred

  • Previous experience with quality tools: TrackerGART, Supply Power (GQTS) and PRTS+ preferred
  • Red X Certification
  • DFSS Certification
  • Previous Managerial Experience
  • SMT Design and Release Experience
