Who You Are
As a valued member of the Battery Cell Systems Research team at GM R&D you will innovate through the creation of new concepts, the exploration of new technology areas, and providing solutions to complex technical problems for advanced batteries for automotive applications. The successful candidate will perform advanced characterization and diagnostic studies to understand key phenomena and processes occurring during battery operation. The position will offer the opportunities to collaborate internally with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, while also working collaboratively with external partners and suppliers.
What You Do
Design, build and analyze advanced batteries through testing and validation
Build cells and analyzes data to quantitatively measure and compare cell performance. Apply diagnostics to investigate cell reactions conduct failure mode analysis to identify root causes and generate novel solutions.
Use electrochemical techniques such as cycling tests, cyclic voltammetry, voltage-compositions profiles, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to investigate kinetic and thermodynamic properties of batteries’ materials
Perform data analysis, interpret experimental results, apply conclusions to iteratively develop experimental design
Develop research plans, lead multi-disciplinary investigations, and communicate results to project teams
Explore promising new research and development areas to maintain and gain technical edges over other competitors
Contribute to the development of intellectual property
What You Need
PhD in Science/engineering fields with proven research capability
4+ years research and/or industry experience
Interpersonal traits for effective collaboration with others
Hands-on battery synthesis/analysis

3+ years of postdoc or industrial research experience
