Scrum Leader - Vehicle Intelligence Platform Execution Architecture

Description

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week

The Role

General Motors is undergoing a major transformation, both in how we operate and in how we will influence the future of transportation. Our Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP) program execution team is at the forefront of this transformation, emboldening our culture by seeking out determined, innovative individuals who will join our team to help move us forward and achieve our mission.  
 
The VIP Execution group supports the definition, design, and development of mechatronics architecture and infrastructure for all General Motors embedded controllers. The Scrum Leader will support a scrum team working within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), to execution architectural and inter-controller communication changes for future and current vehicle products.  As a servant leader of the scrum, the Scrum Lead will coach the team in lean/agile principle, ensure the team is working within SAFe guardrails and work for opportunities to maximize flow within the team.  With your excellent listening, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills you will help the team coordinate across other scrum teams within the ART to smoothly and efficiently execute solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Be the servant leader for the scrum as well as developer to achieve team’s goals

  • Leads the Agile team's SAFe ceremonies including daily standups, iteration review, iteration planning, and their retrospective. 

  • Prepares the team PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt Workshop

  • Owner and creator of the Teams’ Kanban board to help the team complete their committed work

  • Focus’ the team on completing their team PI Objectives with quality 

  • Eliminates impediments; this can include working with other teams within or outside their ART

  • Effectively manage interpersonal conflicts and challenges within the scrum team 

  • Engages with the metrics to relentlessly improve their team’s performance

  • Coordinate and collaborate with departments cross functionally to achieve team objectives


Additional Description

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, IT, Math, Physics, or Computer Science

  • 2+ years of experience with proven technical and professional skills in job-related area required

  • Experience with embedded controls development

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed

  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed

  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust

  • Consistent demonstration of innovative thinking that is customer-centric

Preferred Skills

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience with proven technical and professional skills in job-related area required

  • Experience with CAN, LIN, Ethernet and/or AutoSAR

  • Experience within vehicle application development
