Senior Enterprise Architect - Global Purchasing & Supply Chain IT

Hybrid:  This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite  1-3 times per week .

About the Team:

The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC) IT team provides the technology innovation behind one of the world’s largest digital supply chains, with a network of 182 plants, 650 logistics service providers and 3,100 suppliers to build 9 million vehicles and deliver to over 15,000 dealers worldwide. IT integrates the enterprise to make this happen. Our industry-leading team of analysts, developers, engineers, and architects develop, test, and deploy the technology that drives GM. This is an expansive team that is looking for a dynamic and critical team member.

About the role:

This Architect will guide the development of multi-year architecture strategies. They will be part of an architecture team that defines the application landscape for GM’s Global Purchasing and Supply Chain business. A delivery approach is required. This person will be a senior member of the GPSC IT team as we implement GM’s vision of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.

Responsibilities:

  • Model supply chain business domains

  • Analyze existing application capabilities, data and project backlogs for rationalization opportunities

  • Perform architecture governance tasks

  • Capture and effectively communicate architecture metrics

  • Develop and maintain various architecture artifacts, including baseline & target architectures and architecture roadmaps within an architecture data repository

  • Research, analyze and communicate architecture tradeoffs required to achieve specific business objectives

  • Work collaboratively across IT and business functions


Additional Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of proven experience developing/crafting enterprise solutions or leading development teams

  • At least 3 years supporting supply chain or manufacturing in a large enterprise

  • Experienced implementing EA using TOGAF

  • Expertise in resilient application design and secure coding practices

  • Experience and deep understanding of logical and physical data modeling and relational database technologies

  • Experience using Open Group Archimate and UML languages

  • Ability to apply a general understanding of the competitive landscape and corporate and business unit strategies to provide context for architectural decision making.

  • Ability to supervise implementation activity to ensure architecture and design principles are upheld.

  • Provide architectural thought leadership and expertise.

  • Provide mentorship on the direction of technologies; able to speak to and defend positions to both technical and non-technical teams

  • Ability to make decisions in situations of ambiguity and the absence of complete facts

  • The capacity to handle trade-off analysis holistically and across strategic; tactical; business, delivery; long term/short term etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject area or equivalent experience in IT industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scaled Agile architect experience

  • Master’s degree in a technical subject area or equivalent experience in IT industry
