Senior Quality Operations Engineer


This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. Relocation may be provided.

The Quality Operations Engineer is a technical leader position requiring knowledge and passion for implementing data-driven technical and process improvements that will result in streamlined organizational execution and delivery of improved application quality, and reliability. This individual will collect and analyze data from multiple sources to deliver metrics to various audiences of multiple development teams, quality engineering,  IT operations, and executive leadership that highlight application health, operational maturity, and team member efficiency.

This individual  will be responsible for leading complex, highly cross-functional projects to completion and will provide operational thought leadership and project management to the design and implementation of quality measurement systems and tools. These systems are used to evaluate GM IT Quality effectiveness. In this role, you will work closely with individuals and leaders in Innovation, Quality, Operations, and leadership to track progress of various goals, highlight successes, and identify opportunities for improvement, . The measurement systems/tools you create and optimize with these cross-functional partners will influence priorities and define success for internal stakeholders and will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of GM manufacturing plants as well as the maturity and efficiencies within the Quality Engineering organization. 


  • Analyze existing quality processes and tools to provide recommendations for improvements, and partner with engineering teams to implement change
  • Engage with Quality Engineering leadership and stakeholders to define KPIs, review methods to sustainably capture datapoints, and develop a roadmap for data collection
  • Design and implement a data repository using industry standard enterprise solutions
  • Implement data pipelines from multiple sources for collection and analysis
  • Collaborate with internal team to establish dashboards and reports to fulfill KPI requirements
  • Research internal and external sources to identify industry trends, review and drive new and innovative methods to measure and improve quality
  • Manage complex, cross-functional projects and deliver high-quality solutions

Additional Description


  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics using enterprise solutions such as Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, or Business Objects
  • 5 years working with commercial databases such as Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server
  • 3+ years working in an Operations, Analytics, Product, or equivalent team
  • Experience presenting data in formats used to influence business decisions
  • Content creation and presentation skills including experience building and delivering executive leadership content
  • Experience leveraging knowledge and skills across multiple projects and stakeholders to drive change, influence teams and deliver initiatives
  • 3+ years working with technical teams on driving solutions/projects
  • Self-starting, intellectually curious and creative individual comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Experience communicating with a variety of audiences
