Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week.

**This role is only available for Austin TX, Roswell GA, or Warren MI.

The Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) organization is seeking a software developer for the Logistics with Enterprise Orchestration (LEO) team. ETS provides a broad set of technology products and services to the GM IT organization. The LEO team is pivotal to our ability to provide these products and services with optimized administration overhead. The team develops day two self-service automation for systems administrators, automating activities such as patching and release management, application restarts, and other intricate orchestrations. The software developer will collaborate with the team to develop, deploy, and improve admin automation features. They will work with a team of dedicated developers and nurture a culture emphasizing integrity, innovation, forward-thinking, accountability, and inclusivity. The ETS LEO team has already established an impressive portfolio of capabilities that have transformed IT, but it has just scratched the surface of what’s possible. We are looking for an engaged, high-energy team member with range of development experience to help carry the team forward as we work towards GM’s vision.

  • Help make IT more efficient and secure by developing self-service automation interfaces for the LEO platform
  • Optimize solutions with automation concentrated on stability and reduction of toil to ensure they are highly available with minimal operations overhead
  • Contribute to a team based on GM’s values and behaviors
  • Participate in Agile-based planning activities and work plan management to ensure appropriate prioritization of work
  • Collaborate with partner teams in pursuit of mutual goals
  • Help guide the technology roadmap for internal systems and platforms to ensure compliance to standards
  • Full lifecycle application development using standard design patterns/frameworks
  • Design, develop, and deliver scalable microservices and appealing front ends
  • Assist with Performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement
  • Provide guidance and mentoring of fellow software developers and other team members
  • Proactively engage in the identification and remediation of software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security issues related to the code or solution/configuration
  • Integrate software with existing software/systems
  • Purposefully investigate, identify, and remediate software pertaining to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues


Additional Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or relevant industry experience
  • Significant professional software development experience
  • Knowledgable and proficient within full stack software development
  • Highly proficient within .Net development and significant experience
  • Understanding of software engineering practices, design patterns, data structures and algorithms
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Demonstrates experience/knowledge of RESTful web services
  • 5+ years using Micro services and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • 5+ years applying industry standard DB technologies

Crucial Technologies (The ideal candidate will have experience with some combination of the crucial and preferred indicated below):

  • .Net Core, C#, Spring Boot
  • S.O.L.I.D Principles in C#, .Net Webservice, API management
  • Kubernetes/Cloud, Docker, Micro services
  • SQL, Messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQSeries), Maven, Postgres

Preferred Technologies

  • TFS, Azure DevOps, Nodejs
  • Distributed Cache (Redis), Logging/Analytics (ELK)
  • TrueScript/JavaScript/HTML/CSS
  • React/Angular/Vue, Jest/Cypress/Jasmine
  • CSS Preprocessors, Front End Architecture
