Service Parts Engineer

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-4 x per year

CCA's Global Aftersales Engineering organization has responsibility for the service deliverable readiness of every GM vehicle globally. These include service part release, service information, labor time guide, service part catalogue, diagnostic software, service programming, pre-delivery inspection forms, customer service information and special tools. Responsible for efficiently and effectively facilitating the execution of Aftersales Engineering work within their specific function.

Within the Electronic Parts Catalog, the employee will develop, validate, and implement common serviceability specifications, service part release/information and simultaneous production across multiple vehicle platforms. Represent Aftersales Engineering within the Global Vehicle Development Process and with Product Engineering at the assigned Body Subsystem Core PDT(s). Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Service Parts Information (SPI) global team in Aftersales Release and Cataloging (ARC) Project: Business requirement development, user and system training, system documentation, performance, and end user acceptance.

  • ARC system writer code routing maintenance & ECA reassignment support.

  • Support supply chain by tracking and managing temporary reinstate and discontinuation related activities

  • Assist in training the Bundled Service Provider team as necessary

  • Assist in the maintenance and development of departmental policies and procedures

  • Comprehends manufacturing data and engineering releases to deliver the usage for aftersales service

  • Create and Deliver parts usage reports using database queries

  • Support special projects related to Service Parts Information

  • Assist in Global AID database cases to enquire and close any open actions


Additional Description

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology or relevant/equivalent experience

  • High level of oral and written communication skills

  • Adept analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

  • Effective interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others

  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areas

Preferred Qualification

  • Strong knowledge of part release and change management within CCA’s Aftersales part release systems.

  • Knowledge of GM’s engineering related computer software (GPDS, E2, APM, TcAE, Vis Mockup) and proficient with Microsoft Office software.
