Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.   This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-4 x per year.

As a Software Development Engineer – Android Apps, you will join a global team of dedicated and forward-thinking individuals committed to zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion! Every single day your contributions will help move humanity forward by way of crafting seamless infotainment experience between our customers and their vehicles which have become an integral part of their day-to-day lives. Your work will help us deliver world-class and industry-leading solutions and formulate the bridge between multiple fields such as engineering, information technology, technical support, and marketing. You’ll  be responsible for the development of media, telematics, navigation, and vehicle data related functionality applications through best-in-class embedded software.

Responsibilities:

·       Create software for vehicle level functions and perform integration and verification testing with minimal direction of lead engineers. 

·        Analyze software defects; determine root cause, create software solution, test and verify closure.

·       Performs design and analysis on changes.

·       Diagnose, debug and solve issues related to vehicle hardware and software

·       Work with teams from multiple groups to meet project milestones

·        Performs other related duties as assigned.

·       Owning the entire life-cycle of the assigned domain, including requirements, system design, development, deployment, and maintenance of the embedded software for vehicle components

·       Automotive requirements analysis to build embedded software designs

·       Craft and develop embedded software in an Agile environment

·       Develop software code packages in C++, Java, and Kotlin in real time operating system environments

·       Develop and execute test cases for unit, integration, and functional software testing

·       Implement and test software designs on a PC environment as well as on embedded target hardware

·       Perform required version/configuration management activities

·       Perform analysis, resolution, and tracking of defects to closure

·       Coordinate and participate in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test case reviews.

·       Facilitate internal engineers or third-party companies to develop, integrate, and test software deliveries using embedded diagnostic and development tools

·       Work closely with other team leads to support triage and resolution of intricate system problems in a timely manner

·       Interact and facilitate with internal teams and suppliers during all phases of development and integration to refine understanding of requirements and identify innovation opportunities


Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related degree
  • 2+ years of post-graduation experience in software engineering discipline
  • Software application development experience in automotive and/or portable consumer electronic devices in embedded domain
  • Java and Python experience
  • Prior embedded systems development experience with fundamental computer science skills and strong programming skills
  • Experience with revision control tools, issue-tracking tools, compilers, in-circuit emulators, and debuggers
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to travel up to 5% as needed

Preferred Experiences:

  • Advanced degree
  • 6+ years of post-graduation experience in software engineering discipline
  • Experience in developing automotive Infotainment
  • Experience with Android application development
  • Experience in Vehicle Network protocols like CAN, UDS, I2C, UART and SPI.
  • Working experience in any of OS environment like Android/Linux, QNX or POSIX
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols & Diagnostics
  • Experience working in any flavor of the Agile Software Development method e.g. SCRUM
