The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for advanced technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees. You can flex your teamwork muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering, IT, and the business. GM is looking for software tools and configuration management engineer. The position will be responsible for build and software lifecycle tools.  They will also lead the integration of Telematics software into the common platform baseline. The senior engineer will work closely with CM engineers and development teams on integration tasks, system updates, and use of software lifecycle tools. The senior engineer will actively participate in defining and implementing the SCM & software tool team’s innovation roadmap.

General Motors is looking for a software tools and configuration management engineer. The position will be responsible for build and software lifecycle tools. They will also lead the integration of Telematics software into the common platform baseline. The senior engineer will work closely with CM engineers and development teams on integration tasks, system updates, and use of software lifecycle tools. The senior engineer will actively participate in defining and implementing the SCM & software tool team’s innovation roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup, implement, maintain, patch and customize software lifecycle tools - Rational DNG, RTC, and RQM.
  • Act as a domain authority and administrator for Telematics platform’s build and code review systems.
  • Lead software tools roadmap by working with GM software tools organization and representing the local team, which includes coordination of software lifecycle tool updates.
  • Set up, Supervise and Maintain continuous integration build systems
  • Set up new branches and new build lines as needed
  • Take part in source code synchronization between vendor sites and GM
  • Represent the development team for new tool acquisition and license management with GM.
  • Lead SCM innovation projects and actively participate in the creation and refinement of software development processes.
  • Develop reporting solutions using suite of tools based on business and developer requirements, which includes bring together key software metrics that measures software development performance and identifies opportunities to improve software practices.
  • Support local Phoenix development team as well as remote companion development teams by developing and disseminating training materials for tools and defined processes

Additional Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or concentration
  • 4+ years of applicable software experience
  • Knowledge of Gerrit, Jenkins and Git
  • Strong understanding of Linux-based systems
  • Knowledge of running platform builds and product integration with platform builds for multiple parallel products
  • Strong technical leadership skills as well as strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly adaptable and able to work independently and in a team environment

Other Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related concentration
  • 7+ years of applicable software experience
  • Knowledge of IBM life-cycle management system tools (RTC/RQM/DNG)
  • Good working knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process
  • Excellent skills in scripting languages such as Perl, Python or Shell
  • Prior experience with vehicle infotainment, telematics or navigation systems
  • Knowledge of Docker container, install and setup
  • Knowledge of Crucible, Fisheye and JIRA.
