Software Developer - Map Data Tools - Software Defined Vehicle


Hybrid : This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.  The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be on-site monthly.

As a Map Data Tools Software Developer within the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Automated Driving Mapping team, you can work in a highly-integrated global team and collaborate with groups spanning Localization through Planning to Control.   • Create software for vehicle level functions in Python, some familiarity with C++ is desired to perform integration and verification testing with minimal direction of lead engineers

  • Create software for vehicle level functions and perform integration and verification testing with minimal direction of lead engineers

  • Analyze software defects; figure out root cause, create software solution, test and verify closure

  • Performs design and analysis on changes

  • Diagnose, debug and solve issues related to vehicle hardware and software

  • Work with teams from multiple groups to meet project milestones

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Additional Description

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree

  • Minimum of 2 years of developing software in Python or C++

  • Experience in software development, data structures and algorithms

  • Agile software development experience

  • Experience developing unit tests and working with large code bases, developing entirely new code and maintaining existing code, within a CI/CD environment

  • Ability to investigate issues based on limited information

  • Demonstrated high level of analytical ability to resolve complex problems

  • Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility

  • Strong Interpersonal communication skills, proven ability to collaborate effectively with team members locally and remotely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience with the development of automotive safety, connectivity and/or convenience features
