The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! Within the Software Defined Vehicle, GM is developing the next generation of embedded platform software to deliver state of the art Infotainment features on the Ultifi platform.

We are looking for energetic engineers with experience in Android, QNX and Linux testing to help us deliver high quality software for future automotive Infotainment systems. The Role:

The software program manager will be an important member of our infotainment software group at GM, which is part of the larger GM Global Engineering team. The program manager will be responsible for program management in the software group for GM Infotainment system development. The program manager’s responsibility spans the entire software life cycle beginning with the software requirement definition and program planning to the final delivery of a commercial product to the market. The program manager will work closely with both local and global software teams. They will also have to interact with different functional groups, in order to deliver the software programs on time, with high quality and within budget. This position will provide opportunities to grow both technical and non-technical skills!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage software programs to ensure product delivery from GM software teams are on schedule and delivered with high quality
  • Work with multiple scrum teams to create, maintain and track the program schedule
  • Proactively drive and coordinate different teams to ensure each milestone is reached on schedule
  • Manage changes, risks, and issues. Ensure issues get highlighted, addressed and resolved timely and effectively
  • Track program progress and report status to the management team
  • Take ownership of managing dependencies and coordinate between teams as needed
  • Monitor program quality assurance (QA) activities

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of software program management experience in software companies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of program management methodologies and tools
  • Knowledge of embedded product software and test
  • Experience in developing and deploying products in global markets with virtual teams
  • Working knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative, discipline, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitment
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong leadership, excellent coordination, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Five years of software program management experience in software companies
  • Advanced degrees preferred
  • PMP or related certification is preferred
  • Android/QNX/Embedded development experience
  • Experience in automotive and/or portable consumer electronic
  • History of success in applying program management skills in a complex environment is a plus
  • DFSS Black Belt
  • SAFe Certified

This position is flexible to ensure work-life integration.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
