Software Test Engineer

What You Do

Estimate and design test cases that are just-in-time and sized in small increments.

  • Execute and analyze manual/automated tests across software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Track execution status and results utilizing the appropriate tools.

  • Document the bugs/defects with clear details and track them to resolution. Work closely with developers on bugs/defects and review test scenarios and results as requested.

  • Perform root cause analysis and solve problems. Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution.

  • Verify and close out bugs/defects, relevant stories, features prior to production deployment.

  • Communicate to team leads, scrum master, product owner about blocking defects and issues.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with software development and/or software testing experience

  • Desire to work in a fast paced, highly integrated, agile development environment.

  • Experience performing unit, system, system integration, security or application performance testing

  • Experience with back-end technologies. (ideally Java, cloud implementation, microservices etc.)

  • Experience with relational database or non-relational database interactions

  • Experience with design, development, optimization, and deployment of test automation suites. (Gherkin/Cucumber, Selenium, etc.)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions

  • Ability to clearly connect with peers, as well as both business and technical focused teams

  • Maintain safety, security and privacy standards in all areas of responsibility.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills along with the ability to breakdown complex issues.

  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and Quality Assurance methodologies.

  • Strong teamwork focus and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams

  • Ability to learn and utilize new technologies

What is Even Better

  • Experience with testing REST/SOAP Web Services using Postman, SOAPUI, ReadyAPI etc.

  • Experience working with cloud based microservices and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines

  • Agile development work experience

  • Working knowledge of SAFe and relevant ceremonies

  • Experience in mobile and/or telematics/Web services/big data testing

  • Experience with the ELK logs and dashboarding within Kibana

  • Experience supporting production deployments and validation.
