Sr. Developer- Azure Dev Ops

Hybrid : This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

This position requires an employee to be onsite every other week .

About this role

In this Senior Developer role, you are responsible for suite of Dev tools including solutioning software upgrades using industry standard processes and in accordance with GM's software development project methodology. Responsibilities will include solutioning Azure Cloud Infrastructure Pipeline automation, CI CD implementation for applications both in Azure Cloud and OnPrem, migration of Dev Tools applications from PCF to Azure Kubernetes, migration of ADO OnPrem to ADO Services/GitHub Enterprise Services and Security assurance for multiple instances of Artifactory.

GM IT will be adopting Microsoft Azure Services and other Microsoft cloud services as part of implementing hybrid cloud strategy. This role will play a critical part of implementing multiple models of Azure CI/CD/CT services as follows:

  • GMIT Owned applications built On Prem and deployed on Azure Services On Prem

  • GMIT Owned applications built On Prem and deployed On Prem

  • GMIT Owned applications built On Prem and deployed on Azure Cloud

  • CoDev applications (3rd party, Joint Venture, Suppliers) built on Azure Services and deployed on Azure Cloud

Responsibilities:

  • Work extensively with vendors to provide product improvements required by the business

  • Responsible for Product Roadmap, Backlog, Sprint Planning, and Scrum Master

  • Responsible for capturing from both partners and steering committees

  • Engage in the identification / remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues

  • Solid Grasp of maintaining and debugging production software systems.

  • Dedicatedly engaged in the remediation of software issues related to code/solutions quality and/or security

  • Responsible for integrity and compliance to GM and industry quality standards

  • Solid grasp of software packaging technologies including Maven, npm and NuGet

  • Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation

  • Document software code and ensure that technical documentation i.e. configuration guides, install guides meet requirements


Additional Description

Qualifications

  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems administration

  • Experience with software containerization using Docker and Kubernetes

  • Scripting in Python, or a similar language is preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years of professional software development experience

  • 3 years of experience with CI, CD and CT processes

  • 3 years of experience with Dev tools suite
