This is a hybrid role and does not require employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to work with highly accomplished Environmental Leaders at the plant(s). In this role, you will lead and provide oversight of environmental activities at three sites – which includes the growth and development of those environmental team members. As a leader within the Sustainable Workplaces team, it is critical to recognize the intrinsic value of their employee engagement and the overall impact their engagement will have on organizational effectiveness.



  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with a major in engineering or related sciences, preferably with an emphasis on environmental engineering.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.


  • Regulatory knowledge.  Experience in Air Permitting, Storm Water Permitting, Wastewater Pretreatment Permitting and/or Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements.


  • Experience in environmental engineering or related science, preferably within a manufacturing operation


  • Communicate proficiently to all levels of management with executive presence

 - Responsible for developing/maintaining/supporting robust and consistent environmental stewardship program strategies in support of GM’s mission to deliver sustainable solutions that improve the communities in which we live and work.
 - Experienced in at least one of the main environmental programs (air permits and regulation, water permits and regulations, or waste regulations)
 - Engages with Domain Experts as necessary to ensure continual improvement and support new program/project implementation.
 - Key collaboration with plant management and employees, FAMs, regulatory agencies, internal and external community leaders and members, legal staff, GM and external audit services, utility service provides (WWTP & PH), Project Planning teams at sites & HQ, domain experts and chemical and resource management business partners.

Additional Description

This position will be a hybrid role which will include:
- Responsibility for supporting Flint CCA (onsite at least 1 day/week)
- Responsibility for supporting Davison Rd CCA (onsite at least 1 day/week)

- Responsibility for supporting NAETC (onsite weekly)
- Responsibility for supporting other small non-manufacturing sites remotely (Air Park CCA, Burton CCA, CCA HQ, Factory One, Northgate, Share the Spare)
- Occasional travel to these and other small non-manufacturing sites both in Michigan and throughout the US
