This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. Relocation may be provided.
In this software development role, you will be responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies. You will have the opportunity to work hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications. Development activities will include updating existing software and/or developing new software solutions to address a specific need or solve a particular business problem. Additionally, you will drive development activities in accordance with appropriate methodologies and application of a repeatable, systematic and quantifiable approach to the development process. You will coach/mentor software developers and will review the software being developed. This role will also work closely with architects and/or data scientists to ensure code alignment with design patterns/frameworks.

The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain IT team provides the technology innovation behind one of the world’s largest digital supply chains, with a network of 182 plants, 650 logistics service providers and 3,100 suppliers to build 9 million vehicles and deliver to over 15,000 dealers worldwide. IT integrates the enterprise to make this happen. Our industry-leading team of analysts, developers, engineers, and architects develop, test, and deploy the technology that drives GM. About the role and responsibilities:
The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing and developing enterprise applications using sound, repeatable, industry best practices and in accordance with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). In addition to designing and developing high quality code, the role requires leading team(s) of developers, contributing to portfolio planning by sizing future initiatives, developing automated tests, and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
Minimum 5+ years experience designing and developing enterprise applications
Full lifecycle application development using standard frameworks and coding standards/patterns
Coding, unit testing and debugging applications in various software languages
Software testing and quality assurance
Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
Integrate software with existing systems
Maintain standards compliance
Proactively engage in the remediation of software issues related to code quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks.
Provides guidance and coaching to associate software developers.
Automates testing processes by developing unit test scripts as part of coding.
Ensure development artifacts are in alignment with patterns/ frameworks designed by software engineering teams
Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL
Web Application Servers: WebLogic
Methodologies: Agile, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Experience with resilient application design and secure coding practices
Expertise leveraging Object Oriented Programming methodologies and design patterns including domain-driven design, microservices, cloud native (12 + 3 factor), service mesh and cloud design patterns.
Expert knowledge of standard development tools.
Experience and ability to teach or instruct co-workers.
Possess excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication.
Ability to optimize the performance of code.
Understands code quality analysis results and remediation mechanisms
Understands security risks for applications and code remediation techniques
Bachelor's degree in technical discipline preferred or equivalent experience required.
