About the Team:
Our Technology Innovation Excellence (TIE) team is responsible for the hub of reusable software artifacts, mentorship in Azure Cloud tools & automation, and reference documentation for software engineers and other development partners. Our new organization will work with GM IT partners to improve the developer experience and accelerate product-based engineering. Members of our teams include engineers and architects who have a variety of innovative development methodologies and technologies to achieve breakthrough results, drive innovation, and delight developers.
The TIE Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for new application development and will support estimation, analysis, design, programming, automated unit/integration testing, and code debugging. This team member will work in a highly collaborative, multi-functional, and agile environment.
Quickly craft, develop, and deliver new code
Estimate and design work that is just-in-time and sized in small increments
Perform root cause analysis, do technology evaluations, and develop quick prototypes
Commit to completing well-defined, secure, and sophisticated work and deliver on their commitments
Report status of assigned software development and/or maintenance tasks
Consistently follow the specified software development methodology
Promote improvements in programming practices such as acceptance test driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
Prospective team members possess a high degree of business insight, creativity, decision making skills, a drive for results, negotiate, develop strong peer relationships, and a strong technical learning capability and focus.
5+ years of software development experience in the following:
Expertise in SQL (relational databases), key-value datastores, and document stores
Crafting self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components in frontend and backend work
Proven experience diagnosing issues from browser to infrastructure to network to database and all the way back
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to optimally communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions
Creative problem-solving skills that deliver sophisticated solutions to complex issues
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or, equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience
2+ years developing 12 factor apps including crafting and implementing Continuous Integration, Build, and Delivery
2+ years applying platform and infrastructure as a service technologies and capabilities and their corresponding services (object store, configuration management, service registries, etc.)
Over 1 year of Angular 4+ or React development experience
Experience using Git source control doing rebase, merges, and handling merge conflicts
