About the role

We are seeking an experienced digital Strategy Manager for OnStar Business Solutions; a new and rapidly growing business area being incubated within GM’s Global Innovation Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the identification and qualification of strategic business opportunities, which align with the OnStar Business Solutions vision and objectives. You will assess and recommend the development of new customer segments, markets and help define customer needs and value proposition using rapid learning approach. This role will also evaluate competitive intelligence and provide insights and recommendations.  This position reports to the Director – OnStar Business Solutions Incubation & Expansion.

The Strategy Manager will lead strategic initiatives working with a cross functional team of key stakeholders in product management, business development, engineering, sales & marketing, connected operations, legal, privacy and finance to develop recommendations. The Strategy Manager will also participate in external outreach and potential 3rd party partnerships. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate industry dynamics to inform key growth initiatives and new market opportunities
  • Conduct research to inform the development and evaluation of new growth options, including business plans, operating models, and impactful products/technologies
  • Manage a pipeline of short-term and long term strategic opportunities
  • Serve as the analytical point-person on cross-functional strategy deliverables with complex data sets
  • Support the synthesis of findings through documents and deliverables with clear recommendations for the leadership team and cross-functional business partners
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to inform the organization’s growth opportunities
  • Assist with internal strategic planning processes, as required
  • Respond and lead discussions to requests for external partnership proposals and steer the negotiation and conclusion of proposals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Description

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with either a strategy consulting firm or internal corporate strategy group
  • Experience working in the digital and/or technology sectors strongly desired
  • Self-starting personality with the ability to think strategically, problem solve and develop creative solutions
  • Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills; ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong relationship building skills including the ability to relate constructively/present to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience with complex negotiations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar field
  • MBA preferred
