Supply Chain Resiliency/Risk Analyst - Direct Material


In this role you will evaluate the overall resiliency framework (or develop new framework) for the purpose of risk identification, evaluation, prioritization, response, monitoring, reporting, and mitigation across GM’s supply base. Key focus areas will include conducting assessment of risk by providing much greater depth of analysis on Mine to Tier X risks, geographic risks, and developments for components, acting as an independent steward of the long-term health of GM’s supply chain, along with developing and supervising signposts for risks, in conjunction with regular review of relevant news, market participant interviews, prices, legislations and regulations across industries that could result in Supply Chain impact.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Prepare, conduct, analyze and maintain Value Chain Maps and FMEA processes to identify critical long-term risks (cross-industry).

  • Develop and supervise signposts for risks, including regular review of relevant news, market participant interviews, prices, and regulations across industries with support from tools /technologies

  • Facilitate the development of mitigation plans to address identified risks, including collaboration with other Direct Purchasing Teams/Creativity Teams and other risk functions to help develop mitigation proposals

  • Track inputs in dynamic risk model, continuously update and refine scoring and signposts, and develop business cases where relevant

  • Set up and lead a repeatable and systemized process to supervise multiple risk areas and surface relevant new information

  • Analyze data generated through several sources and systems and synthesize conflicting inputs (both qualitative and quantitative) to develop a single well-supported recommendation that will provide real-world solutions and help alleviate future risk for GM.

  • Document risks, signposts, mitigation plans, and changes

  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate, implement, execute, and publish comprehensive readable reports and presentations

  • Engage with suppliers to understand their risk management strategy, approach to Supply Chain visibility, and Business Continuity Planning.

  • Collaborate with the Strategic Business Resiliency team to improve processes and training for our GPSC Chief Resiliency Officer organization and further integrate cross-functionally in end to end supply chain initiatives.

Top Candidates should possess:

  • An understanding of Supply Chain and/or Procurement functions or related field experience.
  • Be skilled in developing materials to convey both concepts and information to targeted audiences.
  • Have the ability to listen to the voice of the customer, guide, and mentor others

Additional Description

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or related degree/experience

  • 3 years of work experience in related areas such as Supply Chain, Direct Material/Logistics Purchasing, Value Chain Engineering, Risk Management including dealing with Suppliers and developing contracts within or outside Automotive industry

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally and globally

  • Comfort working sophisticated problems with tight deadlines and prioritizing assignments/projects and multi-tasking within restricted time constraints

  • Experience in crafting and delivering formal presentations and/or training

  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and to work with a high degree of autonomy

  • Commit to results with an ability to lead and effect change in the face of challenges

  • Desire to challenge status quo and bring improvements to existing processes

  • Creativity, innovation and open minded to new insights

  • Solid understanding of computer software (MS Word, Excel,

  • PowerPoint, Access, PowerBI, TEAMS, and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • High level of data analytic capability preferred

  • Basic understanding of IT processes and terminology

  • Program Management Experience

  • Developing / Implementing Strategies (Global/Regional)

  • Experience Reading and Interpreting Policy

  • Experience Running Business Risk (Financial, Legal, data security) including different industries than Automotive
