Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
To strengthen our Motorsports program, we are to seeking a team driver in loop (DiL) support engineer to aid in the utilization of our simulation toolchain within NASCAR race teams. The goal of this position is to provide valuable engineering support that results in on track performance improvement. You will work with race team members and fellow GM support engineers to develop DiL test plans, prepare simulation models, assist in operation of DiL simulators, analyze output data, implement changes to capture team development items in the simulation model, and solve DiL operational issues. You will be expected to finish projects to the highest standards. You must have experience using vehicle simulation software in a race team setting, interest in proactively engaging with others in vehicle performance related activities and have passion for using highly accurate and numerically efficient models.
What you will do:
Play a key role as a driver in loop (DiL) support engineer embedded within a NASCAR racing team
Support all aspects of DiL simulator operation for race teams on static and full motion DiL simulators
Conduct team specific developmental simulation modeling changes for testing on DiL simulators
Assist teams in analysis of test data for the purpose of deriving potential performance gains
Be part of the broader simulation support team seeking to continuously improve and investigate methods to use the simulation toolchain and increase race team performance
Provide race teams expert knowledge in the simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices
To succeed in this exciting role, we are looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
2-5 years of highly validated experience using simulation or other vehicle dynamics-based modeling software within a Motorsport organization
Highly analytical, customer focused, and structured, with positive relationship and strong communicative skills
Knowledge of using Dymola/Modelica in a simulation toolchain
Exposure to modern software development tooling and environments
High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related subject; Master’s degree is desirable
At least 2 years of Motorsports experience, preferably within a race team setting
Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aero modeling techniques
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact well with others
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
