Vehicle Intelligence Platform Lead Architect


Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week

The Role

The Vehicle Intelligence Platform Execution team is seeking a bold innovator and change agent to lead the evolution a safe, deployable, scalable, and profitable mechatronic electrical architecture for our portfolio of vehicles - electric, autonomous, and conventional applications.

The Vehicle Intelligence Platform Lead Architect role is to establish the mechatronic platform evolution, and assure cutting edge technologies are understood, scalability is accounted for, and performance requirements are met.   This includes physical hardware topologies, infrastructure software, and software allocation.   

This role is a change agent for GM and the Vehicle Intelligence Platform Execution organization.


  • Define the strategic physical, functional, software, and infrastructure partitioning in an optimized set of controllers and mechatronic software platform for future evolutions of the electrical architecture, focused on safety, deployability, scalability and profitability

  • Lead change in the current architecture that are highly strategic or have lasting architectural impacts

  • Assure daily changes to deliver features/solutions stay aligned with the strategic vision of the architecture (safety, deployability, scalability and profitable)

  • Engage, create, and drive to completion advanced projects (ATW) and early architecture discussions for new strategic capabilities.

  • Stay abreast of current technologies and benchmarking data to ensure GM electrical architecture decisions will leverage state-of-the-art solutions

  • Be the voice of commonality, where it makes sense, across disciplines for the industry.  Create initiatives that reduce the proliferation of solutions and maximize re-use between domains

Additional Description


  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, IT, Computer Science or equivalent

  • 8+ years of experience in Electrical, Vehicle Architectures, or similar in complex industries

  • Have deep engineering knowledge of many vehicle systems / sub-systems. (Propulsion, Chassis Controls, Energy, Infotainment, etc..)  in automotive or similar complex industries. Physical and software domains

  • Proven track record of taking long term, strategic initiatives into production

  • Experience in both sides and all levels of the V-model.   Experience in project definition, implementation, test, and integration

Desired Skills

  • SAFe Certification

  • 10+ years of experience in Electrical, Vehicle Architectures, or similar in complex industries
