Work Arrangement:

  • Hybrid : Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the ​employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week.

Internship Focus Areas:  

  • Product/Brand: Media relations, product knowledge, story pitching, social media, employee communications, teamwork and collaboration with other functions, including Marketing and Engineering, as well as executive communications 
  • Manufacturing: Employee communications, product knowledge, union partner relationships, media relations, public policy/government relations, community relations, crisis management, social media, business leadership team dynamics 
  • Corporate: Employee communications, executive communications, media relations, issues management, collaborating with senior leaders, story pitching, broadcast, internal events management

Required Qualifications:   

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications or related field

  • Must be graduating between December 2024 and June 2025

  • Able to work full-time - 40 hours per week during the summer months, with options for 8-, 10- or 12-week positions

Student Stipend:

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2024 Student Program

Pay Transparency:

The salary range for this role is $4,100-$5,200, dependent upon class status and degree
