Work Arrangement:

Position requires an employee to be onsite on a full-time basis.

The Role:
 

The Industrial Engineer will work directly with production in implementing lean manufacturing systems. They will analyze throughput data to help departments improve performance. They will be responsible to handle standardized work for future products alongside the core team and help to launch extraordinary products. In steady state, they will drive continuous improvement projects. The main purpose of the Industrial Engineer is to work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value. The position will develop, recommend, and implement changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and or product quality. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to your success at General Motors.

What You’ll Do:

  • Promote safe work practices as highest priority and implement objectives for ergonomics, health, safety, and housekeeping
  • Support joint implementation of GMS principles
  • Support Built in Quality (BIQ) requirements thru implementation of GMS statements and absolutes
  • Support coordination of Operation Readiness
  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly GMS Implementation Team Meetings
  • Facilitate or participate in Internal and External GMS Calibrations
  • Update and submit monthly GMS scorecards
  • Support and update development and report out of GMS Method Execution Plans (MEP)
  • Participate in GMNA GMS Integrator conference calls
  • Update and maintain GMS training modules and jointly conduct GMS Training
  • Maintain plant GMS standards, processes, and forms
  • Support joint facilitation of Simulated Work Environment (SWE)
  • Develop Quarterly Staff Layered Audit schedule
  • Attend Staff Layered Audits
  • Support planning and team meetings (Plant Planning, IE, etc.)

Additional Description

Your Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience as Industrial Engineer or similar within Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of time study and motion analysis
  • Experience in implementation of lean manufacturing concepts

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge:

  • Production experience
  • Knowledge of human factors engineering / ergonomic analysis
  • Working knowledge of computer aided drafting tools (AutoCAD)
