설명

Work Arrangement: This role is based remotely but if you live within a 80 KM radius of Markham Elevation Centre, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

At General Motors, we envision a future with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. We are on a mission to create the next generation of vehicle compute platforms. As part of this transformative effort, we are redefining how automotive software is developed, deployed and monitored, establishing a ubiquitous connection between vehicles and cloud-edge resources.

The Role

As a Technical Team Lead for Embedded SW Development within the Data Engineering organization, you will play a crucial role in this evolution. You will lead a team to develop software that not only transmits observability data from embedded modules but also acts as an enabler for apps and services to emit this data, providing key insights into system performance in real-world conditions. This role requires a hands-on approach to guide the team in building a comprehensive observability system using Open Telemetry and related tools.

You are a hands-on technical leader with strong experience in C++, C, Java, and/or Rust. You have a proven track record of delivering high-quality embedded software using Agile methodologies. Your expertise includes working with data capture and transmission and developing mechanisms that enable applications and services to emit observability data efficiently. You are also skilled in implementing secure and reliable data transmission protocols.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and implementation of software solutions within the team, including feature development, maintenance, and bug fixes.

  • Directly engage in writing code and participate in code and test case reviews.

  • Conduct software verification, including unit and integration testing, as needed.

  • Ensure clear and comprehensive documentation in line with the software development process.

  • Take full ownership of projects, making key design and implementation decisions independently while mentoring junior team members.

  • Be a proactive and energetic leader in a dynamic team environment.

  • Focus on building an observability system using tools like Fluent Bit and leveraging Open Telemetry.

  • Develop and enhance the mechanisms that enable embedded apps and services to emit observability data, facilitating comprehensive monitoring and analysis of vehicle performance.

  • Implement and maintain secure communication protocols to protect data integrity and confidentiality during transmission.

  • Ensure the reliability and robustness of data transmission, implementing strategies to detect and recover from transmission errors and data loss.

  • Hands-on experience with observability tools, particularly Fluent Bit and Open Telemetry.

  • Experience in software test automation (Linux/Unix shell scripting, Python, JUnit, GTest).

  • Experience in software containerization (Docker and Kubernetes).

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience developing in Android, Linux, and/or QNX.
