Descrição
At BrightDrop, we are reshaping e-commerce by developing smarter, greener, and more efficient ways to deliver goods and services to your door, while delivering a brighter future for the cities where we live. We are building an ecosystem of all-electric, zero-emissions delivery solutions – from electric vehicles, to ePallets and software that leverages real-time data to drive intelligent optimizations for e-commerce.
To deliver on our mission we are growing fast and building a team, based in Palo Alto, with offices in Atlanta and Detroit, that is customer-focused, agile and passionate about innovating for a more sustainable future. From engineering to product management and operations, BrightDrop is looking for people who can combine a passion for technology and sustainability with high doses of curiosity and rigorous thinking to deliver a better future.
Backed by General Motors, BrightDrop is striving to improve the communities where we live and deliver a better future for generations to come. We hope you’ll join us - https://www.gobrightdrop.com/join-us
This position will be located 4-5 days onsite, in either Milford, MI or Warren, MI.
The Role:
The CAE Analysis Engineer will gather information from a variety of sources inside and outside BrightDrop and GM, building and running analytical models, interpreting results for internal customers, attending development team meetings, and interacting with mechanical and electrical integration teams.
-
Participate in Product Development teams on new and existing designs, providing analysis to assess performance of innovative designs.
-
Build Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models from CAD solid models.
-
Perform impact analysis and variation at upper and lower temperature extremes for materials (including leading new material characterization development).
-
Guide the design through recommendations and data driven countermeasures by implementing FEA countermeasures through morphing technology or ANSA / Meta post element design features that verify performance (ahead of the math design).
-
Apply Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies.
-
Perform airflow and thermal management simulations of varying complexity to improve designs.
-
Develop FEA models and run analyses that could include linear/non-linear, durability/fatigue to assess product designs.
-
Perform FEA simulations including stiffness, modal, impact, and deployments. Use Optistruct and Dyna toolsets, along with advanced variation and optimization software, to assess designs.
Additional responsibilities include:
-
Work with Systems Safety to support crashworthiness simulations.
-
Work with test labs, GM vehicle proving grounds, to define tests which enhance findings from limited hardware. Follow-up post-test on correlation of CAE to test results and potential takeaways and improvements.
-
Perform and analyze Mold Flow Analysis on plastic components.
